Information and Communication Technologies
The information and communication industry represents one of the largest economic sectors in Germany and is an important driver of innovation and growth in many other industries as well. Digital technologies of all kinds are changing our lives. This topic area bundles a multitude of innovative technologies. We focus on the areas of software, electronics and data science.
Data Science
Digitalization and the development of electronic components are directly linked to the analysis of large amounts of data (big data). Due to the abundance and diversity of this data, the application of sound algorithms and processes is often necessary to extract knowledge from it. We collaborate with companies on the profitable application of machine learning methods and AI algorithms. In this way, we pursue the goal of collecting, forwarding, and efficiently evaluating relevant process data.
Development of electronics
ICM e.V. develops customized electronics solutions for and with small and medium-sized enterprises. We support prototype product development, from circuit diagram creation and circuit board design to the production and assembly of functional models.
We commission prototypes of our developments on-site and prepare for series production together with our partner companies. Key areas of focus are data acquisition and data transmission, with a particular focus on wireless transmission technologies.
As a research institution, we also support the approval process for electronic components, conduct climatic and functional tests, and provide support with CE approval and technical documentation.

Software development
In a digitalized world of work, innovative software solutions are an important part of systems and test benches, as well as innovative product developments. We are researching intelligent product software that simultaneously meets the highest standards of usability and software ergonomics, thus enabling medium-sized industrial companies to access digitalization.
Apps and web-based presentation
We develop of specific applications (apps) for mobile devices on various platforms. However, in many applications, web-based processing of measurement or simulation data is also a good option. Measurement data can be collected on mobile devices and integrated into a server-based database via a web protocol. Preparation and processing is carried out using customer-specific algorithms and methods. The results can be accessed by the user on a customized and secure website.
Software for special purpose
In addition to recording, processing, and user-friendly preparation of measured values and process data, we also develop specialized simulation software focused on a specific application. This allows the integration of customized functionalities, minimization of calculation times, and adaptation of customer-specific interfaces. Most importantly, however, is the precise alignment to the customer's needs and processes.
The alaska/SimulationEngine (a class library for describing and analyzing technical systems using multibody dynamics) can be used as a basis for this.
The main product is the general-purpose software alaska/ModellerStudio, which enables general modeling of technical systems. Based on this general functionality, it is possible to develop and integrate specific extension modules. These include alaska/Wind for modeling and simulating the dynamics of wind turbines and the biomechanical human model Dynamicus.
